FAQ
Welcome to Duckside: A Survival Game on Quack!
Step into the webbed feet of a duck in Duckside, a persistent-world survival game where you’ll craft, fight, and build your way to victory—or end up as part of the “10 million” statistic. Think DayZ or Rust, but instead of humans, every character is a duck, and the stakes are as high as the skybox. With PVP and PVE challenges, deep crafting mechanics, and robust flight controls that let you glide, dive, and shoot mid-air, this game redefines survival… with feathers.
In Duckside, you’ll scavenge resources, build shelters, and craft tools to protect your loot from rival ducks and hostile humans stationed across a sprawling island. Join a flock or go solo as you fight for dominance in a world where no stash is truly safe, and every base can be raided. Whether you’re defending your nest or raiding another’s, one thing’s for sure: survival isn’t just a hard duck life—it’s a fowl war. So, are you ready to embrace the chaos and take flight, or will you be a sitting duck?
Why Early Access? “Prior to launching on Early Access, we ran 3 highly successful beta testing phases alongside our growing community that proved invaluable in helping us ensure DUCKSIDE was able to reach an Early Access launch state. With Early Access, we have the opportunity to bring even more players into the DUCKSIDE Archipelago and expand the game even further with community feedback and suggestions helping to shape our development plan and direction.”
Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access? “We don’t have an exact amount of time in mind at this stage, as plans and timelines will obviously shift throughout the early access phase while we work with our players to map out the best direction for the game, but we expect DUCKSIDE to be in Early Access for around 12 months.”
How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version? “DUCKSIDE is expected to evolve and grow significantly over the course of Early Access, with new weapons, mod tools, modded servers, missions, cosmetic options, visual improvements, map evolutions/expansions, new servers, and more already either under discussion or in development.
Alongside that, we will aim to release numerous updates developed solely around community feedback and suggestions in between major content updates to ensure a consistent, regular update schedule and a focus on community-oriented development.
A comprehensive living roadmap is available and will be updated regularly over the course of Early Access.”
What is the current state of the Early Access version? “The game is in a fully playable state, featuring near-final versions of all core mechanics and gameplay systems. DUCKSIDE currently has a fully open world, a comprehensive base building/crafting system, human AI, numerous missions, in-game events, hundreds of items, tools, weapons, and crafting materials, and a full day/night system.
More will be added over the course of Early Access and all of the above will continue to be iterated upon and improved following player feedback.”
Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access? “The game's price may increase upon full release following the implementation of all of our planned roadmap content and other additions to the game. However, anyone who purchases DUCKSIDE during Early Access will not be affected by any price changes.”
How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process? “We will be working closely with our players throughout the early access campaign, collecting their feedback through our Discord, Steam Forums, Surveys, and social media to ensure a collaborative effort during this stage of the game's development.
Player feedback has already had an incredible impact on DUCKSIDE's development to date, and we look forward to continuing to improve the game alongside our community!”
Is there any DLC for DUCKSIDE? "We have released a Supporter Pack which contains a number of exclusive cosmetic items and other bonuses which you can purchase standalone or as part of a bundle with DUCKSIDE in the Special DUCK-OPS edition"
Will it be released for consoles? "We are focusing on the Windows version for the time being, but we would like to allow as many players as possible to enjoy the game, regardless of platform, so we’ll cross that bridge further down the line."
