Modding Guidelines & Rules

All modders are welcome to make suggestions Modding is a privilege extended to the community in good faith.

  • Hard rules are non-negotiable. A mod that breaks any of them may be removed from official channels. Depending on the severity of the offense, the mod's author may also be banned from the community.

  • Best practices are entirely at your own discretion. They exist only because they tend to make a mod easier to trust, install, and maintain.

Hard rules

Respect players

  • Do not include malicious code of any kind in your mod.

  • Do not transmit any player data.

  • Do not redistribute game's source code or game assets (sprites, sounds, localization tables, scenes) in any form.

  • Do not unlock, expose, or enable unreleased content from the official game.

  • Do not display misleading information or impersonate the base game.

  • Do not intentionally cause crashes, freezes, or performance degradation.

Respect other creators

  • Do not redistribute another mod author's work or assets without their explicit permission.

  • Do not create mods designed to break or conflict with another mod on purpose.

Keep content appropriate

  • Do not host NSFW mods on the Discord.

  • Do not include content that is hateful, discriminatory, or targeted at any individual or group.

Best practices

Everything in this section is optional but highly recommended. Be transparent

  • Accurately describe what your mod does in manifest.xml and any accompanying documentation. A description that is deliberately misleading falls under the hard rules above.

  • Clearly disclose if your mod modifies saves, the game economy, or other systems that affect the player's experience.

  • Note any known conflicts with other popular mods in your description so players can plan their load order.

  • Consider publishing your mod's source code under an open-source license. Our community encourages open-source mod development: it lets players verify what a mod does and confirm it is safe to run, helps other authors learn from your work, and makes it possible for someone to keep a mod alive if you move on. Closed-source mods are still welcome.
