Sound issues
If you can’t hear any in-game sound or the audio is distorted, please follow these steps:
Check that your default sound device is selected under both Windows and the game settings (where applicable).
Make sure that your Audio device drivers are up-to-date.
While the game is running, right-click the speaker icon on your taskbar and select Open Volume Mixer. Ensure the game's output device matches your default system output and that the volume slider for the app is turned up.
Temporarily unplug any controllers (like a DualSense/PS5 controller) or other outputs with audio devices (e.g., VR headsets). Windows often recognizes these as audio devices due to their built-in speakers, which can hijack the game's sound.
Run the Windows audio troubleshooter: Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Playing Audio.
Install all pending Windows Updates.
Update your DirectX.
In the same Properties menu, go to the Enhancements tab and check Disable all enhancements.
Open the Sound Control Panel, right-click your playback device, go to Properties > Advanced, and set the Default Format to 16-bit or 24-bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality). Some games crash if this is set too high.
