What is SAND: Raiders of Sophie?

SAND is an open-world PVPVE extraction shooter where players operate giant walkers across the post-apocalyptic dunes of a fallen planet, solo, or with friends! Battle rival players, explore, loot and extract valuable resources in a hostile, ever-changing world.

In order to effectively traverse this harsh and dangerous planet, you will design and deploy Tramplers, fully customised, gigantic walking bases that will shield you from the elements, defend you and your loot against other players and destroy anything that obstructs your pursuit of becoming the most notorious pirate upon the dunes!

How Many Modes are in the game?

SAND currently features two modes: Voyage, a lower stakes, persistent open world experience; and Storm Dive, an action packed, battle royale-style mode with higher tier loot and rewards.

The game also features a comprehensive Trampler Editor, where players can construct a trampler from scratch using a variety of components.

What is the maximum size of a team?

Max crew size is 6, but for such a team you should make sure you have enough crew rooms on your trampler. You can play solo and in teams of 2 - 6, with matchmaking based on the size of your crew.

I participated in the Server Slam, do I get any rewards for that?

You do indeed! when you buy the game, you will find an exclusive skin for the M1866/9 "Einzel" Breechloader in your inventory.

How the Skin Works:

  • You are granted 3 rifles featuring this exclusive skin every time you create a new character.

  • If you lose or sell these specific rifles, they cannot be replaced automatically. Your options are to trade/buy them from other players, or create a new character to get a fresh set.

How many players per server?

On Solos: 15 max
Small teams (2-3 players): 36 max
Large teams (4-6 players): 45 max

Is controller supported?

Yes, SAND features full controller support. Though please note that you will need to disable Steam input or you may experience issues. We're working to fix this.

Is there an anti-cheat in place?

Yes, we are using Battleye Anti-Cheat.

The name of the genre has "extraction". Does this mean that matches have a time limit?

In Voyage mode: No. Despite the fact that we taken a lot of cues from some of our favourite "extraction shooters", we do not limit players in how much time they can spend on the expedition on the surface. The players themselves decide when to finish and return to the extraction point to protect what they were able to find.

In Storm Dive Mode, you are limited by the time it takes the Sandstorm to reach the center of the map, but you are free to extract at any time before that.

Will you continue to optimize the game after Early Access launch?

Absolutely! While we've already done a huge amount of optimization in preparation for this launch, we'll be monitoring performance reports and improving the game based on player feedback and reports throughout EA and beyond 1.0.

Is my inventory/tech tree shared across regions?

No, your inventory and tech tree are tied to your characters, which are tied to the region you chose when creating that character. Trampler blueprints however are shared across characters.

Is it possible to play solo?

Absolutely. We have designed and balanced the game specifically to ensure that players can enjoy it solo or alongside their friends.

What languages are supported at launch?

  • English

  • Ukrainian

  • German

  • French

  • Spanish

  • Portuguese Brazilian

  • Polish

  • Italian

  • Chinese Simplified

  • Japanese

What can I do if I lose all my resources?

If you have no tramplers and no resources to build new ones you will have to create a new character or join another team that owns a trampler to recover additional resources.

Will it be possible to create private servers?

There are no plans for private servers at this time, however we are open to the idea, should we see enough demand from players.

Will it be released for consoles?

SAND will be launching on Playstation 5 and XBOX Series X|S, too. Stay tuned for announcements!
