FAQ
Q: So what's this game about? A: SpeedRunners is a 4-player competitive platformer where the goal is to outrun your opponents so much that they fall off the screen. Play online, local and/or against bots. There's a grappling hook you can use to swing Spiderman-style and lots of power-ups like rockets and bombs. Think of Mario Kart as a 2d platformer.
Q: How often do you post updates? A: Ever since we left Early Access in April 2016, we have been mostly in maintenance mode. We update the game when bugs are found and fixed. Other than that, we sometimes still add new features when we or the community have a good and reasonable idea within the context of the game as it is right now.
Q: What kind of features can we expect in future updates? A: The biggest thing is that we're looking into doing some experiments with the ranking system. For more info on that, see this discussion. Other than that, we're working on a new secret feature as well.
Q: Will there be a level editor? A: Yes! In fact there already is one right now! Check the "Workshop" button in the main menu of the game! It has full support for the Steam Workshop as well, so you can easily create, share, and play your own levels against your friends. There's a big disclaimer on the level editor though, as it still contains quite a few bugs and might even cause your computer to explode.
Q: Is there a single-player mode planned for/in this game? A: SpeedRunners is focused on multiplayer, as we think that's the most fun way to play the game. You can play online against friends or strangers, or you can plug in a couple of controllers and play local multiplayer. Additionally, you can play against computer-controlled bots. Any combination is possible as well, e.g. two local players + a bot + an online opponent. So, initially, we weren't planning on adding a single-player campaign. However we ended up adding the story mode, mostly for practice purposes for the multiplayer.
Q: How are you planning on keeping this game/the community alive? A: Aside from constantly improving the game to make it better and better, we're doing regular updates, adding new content and features. Other than that, there is an active Discord and Reddit community. There's also a pretty easy-to-use level editor that allows the community to create an endless stream of new maps.
