Lost Progress
If your save game has disappeared or failed to load, here’s a quick checklist to help:
- Check your antivirus: Antivirus or firewall software might block the game or its save files. Add the game folder and Steam to your antivirus exceptions list.
- Ensure Steam Cloud is synced
- Right-click the game in your Steam Library → Properties → General → Check that Steam Cloud is enabled.
- Always wait for Steam to sync your data before closing the game or shutting down your PC.
- Avoid switching devices or reinstalling unless you're sure your saves have synced.
- Verify game files: In Steam: right-click the game → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. This sometimes helps fix corrupted or missing saves.
- You can also manually download your save file from the Steam Cloud:
- Visit: https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorageapp/?appid=2753900
- Log in and download your most recent save.
- Disable Steam Cloud temporarily in the game’s Properties.
- Replace the local save file in this folder: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\The_king_is_watching_steam
- Start the game and see if your progress is restored.
- Re-enable the Steam Cloud saves for the game, if you wish to.
