For players with 10th Gen Intel CPUs or newer (11th, 12th, 13th, etc.):

  1. Press Win + R on your keyboard, type SystemPropertiesAdvanced and press Enter.

  2. Click the Environment Variables button at the bottom of the window.

  3. In the System variables section (the bottom half), click New and enter the following values:

    1. Variable: OPENSSL_ia32cap

    2. Value: :~0x20000000

  4. ⚠️ Make sure to include the ":" on Value and leave no gaps—before or after. Formatting matters!

  5. Save and reboot your PC, or sign out and back in.

Alternatively, if the above doesn’t work:

First, unsubscribe/remove all mods. If the issue persists, try disconnecting your internet or blocking the game's internet access using your firewall. The game should launch normally afterward.

To block the game via Windows Firewall:

  1. Open the Start menu, type Allow an app through Windows Firewall, and select the matching result.

  2. Scroll down to find Hello Neighbor in the list.

  3. Click Change settings (you might be asked for admin permissions).

  4. To block the app, uncheck the boxes next to it and click OK.

  5. Launch the game and press Cancel if Windows prompts you to add it to the firewall exceptions.

If none of the above solutions resolve the crash, please contact us using the form below. Make sure to include:
